Christmas Fudge - the easy way :-)

 

Can you believe it's November already!  If you find you are too busy to make homemade fudge but want to give a cute and funny little gift to others, this might just be the thing. 

Liz made us each one of these a few years ago and I thought they are such cute gifts!  I used a wheel to make my background paper, but just using a single stamp would work as well.  I used Elegant Eggplant cardstock and ink for mine.

Glass Ornaments - Stamped or with a picture

Wow, it has been quite the week.  We have had both our vehicles break down...our youngest fell out the little zipper door of the trampoline (it's never usually open...she was OK thankfully) and our older daughter fainted which was a really scary experience (I took her to emergency but they couldn't find anything wrong with her so they said just to monitor her). 

The good news is that we all seem to be over the cold/flu for now and the weather has been just beautiful :-)

 

 

 

 

Today's video is on how to make glass ornaments by stamping or using a picture for the inside of the ornament.  I made the one with the picture a few years ago for everyone in our family...kind of a neat Christmas keepsake gift to give others.  Watch the video and try it out if you haven't made one before.

I also just want to thank those of you who have emailed for the nice comments you have made about my site.  It's really nice to hear from you and nice to be getting to know some of you better!  I also thank you for emailing cards that you have made from watching some of the videos...I hope to create a gallery soon and add your cards to the gallery.  Also if anyone has any questions or corrections that you notice that need to be made or just to say hi, you can email me or leave a comment in the comment section at the bottom of the post.

Snowman Soup in a Mug

I have had this mug template for quite awhile and I am not sure who I received it from originally  but the owner's name is on the template, Sherry Graves (I have looked but can't find any info on her).  If you are Sherry or you know her site, let me know and I will post a link.

Through a couple of viewers (thanks Nancy and Becky), I found Sherry and found out that her template must be purchased (it's only a few dollars, very little for a fabulous template!)

Sorry Sherry and everyone for all the confusion...when I saw for personal use on the template, I thought it meant you can share it with others for their personal use as long as you didn't sell it...Duhhh :-)  But a good thing happened out of it as I found a great place for unique templates! 

I used Tempting Turquoise to make my mug and I wheeled on the 'Snow' wheel from Stampin' Up and added dazzling diamonds with a glue pen.

I wrapped 10 mini marshmallows in Saran wrap and added them to a cellophane bag, along with a package of hot chocolate, 3 Hershey kisses and a candy cane and then tied it with a piece of Tempting Turquoise ribbon. 

I printed the Snowman Soup poem on my computer and adhered to a scrap piece of Turquoise left over after cutting out the mug.  I stamped the snowman from Stampin' Up stamp set, Just Celebrate and colored areas with a blender pen and ink from the stamp pad.  You can download the word document as well...there are 3 different Snowman Soup poems on it and the ingredients for it as well.  Thanks for stopping by!   Karen

Icicled Snow Burst Window

Sorry for reposting...I forgot to add the icicles.  See the post right below for a video on how to make the icicles.

Another very simple Christmas card today.  It uses the Stampin Up stamp set Snow Burst (snow flakes) and Snow Swirled (greeting) and also Stampin Up colors Pacific Point and Bashful Blue.  I randomly stamped the snowflakes on a 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" piece of Shimmery White and then used my 1 3/8" square punch to cut out the squares (but I could have just used my cutter and cut them into squares that are 1 3/8" x 1 3/8")  I then added dazzingly diamonds with a glue pen and adhered them to a 3 1/4" x 3 1/4" piece of Pacific Point and adhere that to a piece of 4" x 4" Bashful Blue. 

Before I attached the Bashful Blue piece to the card front, I pierced some holes with my paper piercer around the edges of the 'window', then I adhered it to the card base.  If you don't have a paper piercer, you can just use an ordinary large needle or safety pin as the piercer and print out some dots in line or a swirl to use as a guide and then pierce on top of a piece of fun foam.  For the finishing touch, I added the greeting from Snow Swirled stamp set. 

The night before I had made icicles to hang from the window (and forgot to put them on in the original post).  They were made by squeezing Stampin Up's Crystal Effects (I think white glue and glitter might also work) onto wax paper in the shape of icicles and then adding Dazzling Diamonds on top, shaking off the excess and then letting it sit overnight to harden.  When dry, just pull off from the wax paper and attach to the project with Crystal Effects or glue.  Check out the video HERE.  Thanks for looking!

Black and White Snow Swirled Vellum Christmas Tree

This was another fun Christmas card to make because it doesn't take long to make (gotta love that!) but it's still very elegant.  Liz designed this card a few years ago.  I used the basic design but changed the stamp set and the words.  I LOVE the black and white look!  See the quick video below.

I stamped the Christmas tree stamp from the Stampin Up stamp set 'Snow Swirled' onto cardstock vellum with black craft ink and then embossed with black embossing powder.  I tore around the edges of the tree and then used the 1/16" punch to pierce a hole through the Velum and through the piece of 2 3/4" x 3 1/2" Glossy White and added a Rhinestone brad through both holes to adhere it. 

This was then adhered to a 2 7/8" x 3 5/8" piece of Basic Black and then onto a 3 1/4" x 4" piece of Whisper White.  The whole piece was then adhered to the base cardstock which is Basic Black cut at 5 1/4" x 8 1/2" and folded in the middle.  The wonderful Christmas sentiment from the stamp set 'Heard from the Heart' was stamped on the base with White craft ink and embossed with white embossing powder.  The final touch was to add some crystal effects to the decorations on the tree and sprinkle Dazzling Diamonds on top.  It's a cool effect because it reflects from other colors so the decorations appear to be colored but aren't!  Thanks for looking.  I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving (for all you Canadians anyways :-)

Dazzling Snowflake Swing Card

The other day I was trying to make a swing card and made the mistake of cutting the whole thing out instead.  I then created a variation of the swing card where the middle spins (I am sure this has been done somewhere).  I tried it with words first and it seemed to work...sometimes it's good to make mistakes in stamping!  This one was made with a stamp from the 'Seasons of Joy' stamp set and uses Bordering Blue cardstock.

 

 

Then I looked at the Felt Flurries that Liz had given to us in the Stamper's 10 group she leads that I go to (check out Liz's classes HERE, she's awesome!)...it was our homework for the month, to make a card with them.  I ended up having to run to her house to exchange one of the flakes for another Baja Breeze colored one and to also 'borrow' a piece of Baja Breeze cardstock which she so graciously gave me (Thanks Liz!) and made this one.  I had to cut a bit of the white Flurry off to fit it in but it was very easy to make!  This one uses 3 of the Felt Flurries from the new Holiday Mini catalogue and the Baja Breeze cardstock I borrowed :-)

Origami Christmas Trees

More Christmas card ideas for you.  These beautiful Origami Christmas trees may look like they are hard to make but they really aren't...you'll have to try making them and let me know what you think.

They both use Stampin' Up Double Sided Designer paper (Bella Rose) and one uses Kiwi Kiss  and the other Pink Pirouette.  I used my Coluzzle to cut the oval in the designer paper and then created my tree and adhered to the front of the card.  I also used a brad on one and a Rhinestone brad on the other.

 

 

They are quite fun to make once you have tried a few so give it a try!  The card base is 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and then folded in half.  The designer paper is 4" x 5 1/4" and I used the 3rd ring on the Coluzzle to cut out the oval). The dimensions for the four pieces of designer paper for the tree are 3" x 3", 2 1/2" x 2 1/2", 2" x 2" and 1 1/2" x 1 1/2".  Folding each square as follows:  Fold square in half, open back up.  Fold in half the other way, open back up.  Fold corner to corner on the diagonal, open back up.  Fold the other corner to corner on the diagonal, open back up.  Now fold in the sides so you have what looks like a triangle.  Fold left and right sides of the triangle in towards the middle.  Repeat with each of the other squares.  Stack on top of each other to form the tree.

Make your own Spectrum Pad!

I really love using spectrum pads and so when Stampin' Up stopped selling them awhile back I decided to create my own.  It's a very similar idea to the baby swipe or striped swipe technique done by the very talented Beate at Splitcoast here but I don't use reinkers, I use markers, a baby wipe and the end of a stamp pad.  The quick video will show you what I mean :-)

Spectrum Polished Stone Christmas Card

Looking for Christmas card ideas, this is a simple one to make.  The Polished Stone technique is one of my favorite stamping techniques but I find I usually get really blotchy results so I added a twist and use my spectrum pad instead of colored reinkers and then just use the metallic reinker and rubbing alcohol after.

I created this Christmas card with this technique.  In the video I mention that it is a bit easier than the regular technique and by that I mean that I just have to do it once to make my card and I am usually happy with it :-)  I am using this card for one of the challenges this weekend at the wonderful Splitcoast site is putting on during World Card Making Day.  This is the first time I have been able to participate in a challenge (my three year old finally decided it was OK for daddy to put her to bed...yipee!!) so exciting!

The colors I used for this card are Regal Rose, Basic Black and Glossy White.  I brayered with the spectrum pad 'Cotton Candy' and then did the technique, stamped the trees twice with Black Stazon and added dazzling diamonds with a glue pen.

Holiday Mini - Winter Post Christmas Card

We made this Christmas card at Liz's stamper's 10 club the other night (along with a gift basket made with the Big Shot and another very cute card).  She said this card was cased but I am not sure who from.  We used the Big Shot to cut out the front piece, sponged and stamped on it using a new stamp set from the Holiday Mini - Winter Post and Lovely as a Tree in the background.  The skaters were stamped on a scrap piece and colored with a blender pen and ink from the top of the ink pad and adhered to the front with dimensionals.  Alpine ribbon from the Holiday mini was tied in a knot and added with a glue dot.  This was adhered onto a piece of Holiday Treasures designer paper that had four brads attached to it.  All of this was adhered onto the Chocolate Chip base.

Country Christmas Card with Video

I was able to create a quick video for this card last night but it's not done the exact way we did it at Liz's as I don't have all the stuff yet (imagine that!)  I improvised a bit as I mostly wanted to show you how to do the clasp part of this card as it's kind of neat.  See the video and the reference guide below.

Here is the final card that we did in Liz's Christmas card class.  We did three of these cards but used different stamps and different colors.  The cardstock is Kraft, Confetti White, and Riding Hood Red (Mellow Moss and Bashful Blue were the colors used on the other two).  The stamps are from a Hostess stamp set called Deer friends (very cute), the Classic Stripes background and my favorite new word stamps 'Heard from the Heart'.

All nine cards from Liz's Christmas Class

Here is a picture of all nine cards we did in Liz's Christmas in August class!!  It was such an awesome class...we always get our money's worth and more with all the great cards and projects she comes up with each time and getting to try out Stampin' Up's newest punches, stamps, colors and ribbons is always a treat as well.

Sleigh Bells Ring...

 Did you know that there are only about 14 weeks until Christmas!   Time to get started on Christmas cards if you are anything like me (I usually leave them until the very last minute and then only send out a couple...that were made from last year :-)

I am going to try and post at least 2 or 3 Christmas cards or gift items a week until Christmas, so check back if you are looking for some ideas.  There is a link to Christmas cards on the side bar under Catagories which will show you all the Christmas cards when you click on it.

Today's card is one of the ones I made while attending Liz's Christmas in August class.  Such a pretty card!  The card colors are Baja Breeze, Brushed Silver and Whisper White.  The image and the words are from the Sleigh Bell's Ring set and were embossed using Versamark and Silver embossing powder.  The words were stamped and embossed on a piece of Whisper White and then punched out with the NEW Wide Oval punch.  A bit of Baja Breeze color was added to the image with a sponge dauber and then White Taffeta ribbon and a bow with the same finished the card off.

Rudolph the Reindeer made with punches

My sister Pam had sent me a Christmas card a few years ago that had a cute little hand-torn reindeer on...it was so cute!!  The reindeer reminded me of T-bone from the kid's show Clifford, and I LOVE T-bone!!

 A few weeks ago I decided that I was going to try and make the card...I am not so good at hand tearing things so it didn't turn out so well...then I saw my punches...so here it is.

Cardstock:  Creamy Caramel, Real Red, Whisper White.

Inks:  Green Galore, Real Red, Basic Black, Creamy Caramel markers.  White gel pen.  Creamy Caramel ink pad.

Tools:  Tag Punch, 5 Petal Flower Punch, 1/2" circle Punch.

Big Shot - All I want for Christmas :-)

I had heard about the Big Shot but I didn't really know what it was...so I didn't think I needed it.  A couple of week's ago at Liz's Stamper's 10 club I found out what it was...I changed my mind about needing it :-)

While we were trying out the Big Shot, Liz created this beautiful card with one of the words we printed out.  LOVE it!  Did you notice her signature?  LOVE that as well!!

Creating cards from the heart!

Liz was my upline when I was a demo for a short period of time (lack of time had me give it up..boo hoo...someday I hope to come back to it)...Liz is also my stamping mentor...but most of all Liz is a good friend (she also wiped out my bank account this weekend, but that's another story for another time...don't worry it was my bank's fault :-)
